Called my elderly father. Left a message stating he owes taxes and could be arrested if he doesn't pay. Haven't listened to the actual message yet but it is clear this is a scam.
Calls out of nowhere and tells me my computer is sending an error report on a certain port. Tells me to go ahead and turn on my computer. Told him to get screwed.
I haven't requested service nor is my computer registered anywhere w a phone number.
Got a call from this number. My caller ID says: Dir Asst IA. Say what?
A msg was left on my recorder with a voice that sounded like an Indian (not native American) dialect.
The msg. had a volume level so low, I could not understand what was being said.
I am guessing it is from the "same" jerk who wants to repair my computer as it is "infected".
I have gotten a similar call from another location that I blocked. My blocking capability is presently full with
my current phone provider. I don't feel I should have to spend about $100 to get a phone-blocker with better capabilities...
but I am getting close to going that route!
Got another call today (this time from: 405-555-0127) with my caller ID displaying: Dir Asst OK.
Presume from the same "jerk" or other not-so-kind words. No msg. left this time.
I just filed a complaint with the FCC using their online complaint site. for the 405 #. I included this number also.
I do wonder if anyone in the FCC can do anything, or are they just flooded with complaints & the ones doing this simply spoof other numbers & move on?
I have been receiving several calls during each day for several days; however, I do not pick up. The Caller ID states "DIR ASST IA". When I read several comments from others, it appears it is a scam where they are telling others something is wrong with their computer and they'll fix it for $100.00. It is becoming very annoying and I am blocking this phone number.
