I was called from a man ([***]) stating his name was Michael Evans with Card Member Services offering to help me to get what few credit cards I have to a 0% APR by opening a Discover card to either put the balance over on that card or something to help with???whatever. My health is not good, memory problems at times. But, He was so convincing, I like an idiot, gave him info he should have never been given. This was on a Friday before Labor Day 2016. Sure enough after calling Discover, he had opened an account using my name and all the info over the internet. He gave a different address by leaving off the first number of my 3 digit address number. I called Discover the day after Labor thinking I couldn't call until today (Tuesday) That's when I found out that a Discover card with my name had been opened and was granted. He even went so far to open a gmail account with my came. I had wondered why he asked me if I had a gmail account to which I answered him truthfully and told me no. I found out that info from the fraud department from Discover. None the less, after my call it was cancelled. But, the fraud department told me it was good that I had acted in a timely manner. I then called the Credit Bureau for Experian, Transunion, and Equifax and put a 90 day alert that I will again call before the 90 day period and put another alert on it. I have no idea why I thought this could be legitimate as I didn't need help with the few credit cards I have as they have 0% APRs for awhile longer anyway. These underhanded, deceitful people are some very smooth talkers who just rob and ruin innocent people's money and credit. It took me two days before a light bulb came on in my brain. Please, please be careful, as I thought I was smarter than this but they are so smooth they could sell an air conditioner to someone living in an igloo. He had the "balls" to call me about 2-3 hours today, the day after Labor Day 3 times back to back! My daughter answered the first call, told him to go to hell and never call my number again. But he continued 2 more times (one right after the other) The third time, I answered and after he identified himself, I said "I am on to you as is the Fraud Dept., Credit Bureau, and the Better Business Bureau and to never call my phone again," he abruptly hung up!! He used 2 different phone numbers between Friday before Labor Day and Tuesday, the day after Day. The other number he used was 855-315-0693. He was never going to help me, he was going to help himself by running up a $3000.00 credit card in my name. G
