I received a call today and they left a message . It was a man's voice on a machine telling me to call a number. I didn't write the number down because I thought it was the one that showed up on my caller ID.
So I called the caller ID number and it was a foreigner  who said something. I said I can't hear you who are you calling from? The said the irs and that I owed money and the irs was suing me and it was in litigation.  I said you don't even know who I am. They asked for my zip code. I gave it to them. It was a woman I was speaking to. She said yes the irs was suing me I Owed money. She said write this down.
Her name was Cathy Choman

And my case number was cp3426.

I said again you don't know who I am. How can I owe the irs I'm on disability. She said let me check again. And my stupid self gave her my address. But nothing else. She came back a minute later and said it was a mistake sorry and hung up. I called the police and reported it. They took down all my information I just said and warned me to check my credit in a few months incase they opened a credit card in my name. She said it was unlikely but to do a report now and in a few months. But everything was reported and it's on record incase anything happens. She also said the irs doesn't call. They only send by mail and to have a bad accent like a foreigner would be a red flag. It's highly unlikely anyone with a accent would make a irs call. Definate red flag.
