Today at 12:55 I received a call on my corporate cell phone.
The pre recorded message was that I was identified as a recipient of a class action suit. I hung up.
I looked at the phone and there was a phone number 320-268-6660. (Minnesota number)
I called that number from my desk phone and the call was answered by an Auto Attendant System.
It identified itself as the “National Do Not Call” number and my number would be added to the list.
“Please enter your nine digit SSN as verification” I entered 123-45-6789. It then asked for my ZIP code I entered 55555.
It verified 55555 and asked for a YES or No. I said YES. It asked again. I said YES.
It then said I do not understand your response please leave your name, and complete street address.
I then hung up.
I contacted corporate Fraud Management as the call came in on my work phone. Fraud Management took the number down and my cell provider. He said they would be in contact with the provider.
I then contacted the phone provider and they took the number down and made a note in the account and then thanked me.
I called the number back and it was disconnected.

They called me at 1:06pm today. I called them back at 3:36pm and the say they are the Consumer Credit Reporting Company blah, blah, blah... and you can opt out (or in) temporarily or permanently to pre-approved credit card offers. if you opt out they will notify all three credit unions and you can do it on line at www.optout.com. GREAT! except for two things:
1. I am on the DO NOT CALL list
2. I have already (supposedly) PERMANENTLY opted out directly thru the credit unions a year or two ago......
Hmmmm, neither things appear to be working....
And I wouldn't dream of giving my SS# to some automated call line!!!!
Sounds a bit shady to me!
