Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. This is a scam, they sent me a text saying it was from directexpress and my card was inactive and needed to call them. All they wanted was my personal information and change my cards so they can access to it. Be careful cause from my understanding any debt collector or card holder would NOT be calling you from a local number. Only a scam does that. You should be getting a call from a 1 800 or 888 number if it was from your debt collector. this number is definitely a scam.
