This is not your student loan company but a party that is misidentifying themselves and possibly seeking identity theft. They are behaving a little differently than a marketing company that would simply ignore the DNC laws. They harassed me today with profane langauge and claimed they had an offer that would be lost if I hung up.
A BBB report states they are unable to identify the company. Complaint trend involves the compnay trying to say they have a special offer that could be achieved by calling your lender yourself. They try to attach themselves to larger organization to gain validity, your universtiy, your current student lender or your credit card company by using generalist names that sound like a department: Student Services, Card Member Services, are all designed to seem like departments wtihin an existing organization. This action is illegal. You can report this, along with the representative's behavior to the FTC and FCC.
The Federal Communications Comission will be interested becasue the party may be using the telephone to comit possible crime. At the very least they are violating federal law through their failure to idenitfy and their harssment using profane langauge. Those are FCC mandates that will get them a fine if they get eough complaints. An FTC complaint will serve as documentation that you have been contacted by this party in the event that it causes a legal issue.

If you file a complaint on the Do Not Call Website, you will get a message stating that they cannot investigate every complaint. These people have been calling me for a year, told me they used an automated system and could not remove my number. You will get NO help from the FCC.
