Caller asked for my brother, who has not lived here in 20+ years. I guess he used this phone no when he bought his first house and got a mortgage, and they bought some list that had this old data on it.

This number called me as well. I picked up the second time it called after searching for it on here. I was suspicious at first because I don't own a home, but whoever had my phone number last must have. At first I thought the man on the line was a telemarketer and I admit, I was planning on having a little bit of fun with him (I was bored). After I spent a little time chatting with this polite upbeat gentleman, and a little bit of research on the internet I realized that this company and the services it offers is a rarity in today's world.
Apparently Sunshine State Lending is a company that helps people (right now mostly Floridians) refinance their mortgages to help people better their financial situation. They have at least 200 lenders available to work with (including some with the lowest interest rates in the country!) and this greatly increases their ability to refinance your mortgage to the lowest rate available to you. They prefer to offer fixed rate loans and they offer you a free financial analysis service by phone to assess your situation. Once the analysis is complete and an appraiser has seen your home. They will work to get you the best possible loan with the best rate for your situation.
He told me all a person needs to get a better rate is a somewhat decent credit score, and some equity in their home. Lower credit scores didn't necessarily exclude someone either.
The people who work for this company genuinely want to help anyone they can refinance their mortgage to get them a better rate, help them pay less per month on their bills (debt consolidation too!), and they even have a program available that can help people pay off their mortgage years before it would reach term (and you would be spending little more per month than you would with a newly refinanced mortgage with them). The gentleman on the line told me that there was absolutely no obligation even if you just went through with the financial analysis. He even told me that if they can't find a better rate than what a you currently have (and this happens rarely) that they tell you this! They would prefer that you stay in your current mortgage if it leaves you in a better financial situation, and they don't use scummy sales tactics to force you into anything.
Sunshine State Lending has many offices throughout Florida and is a legit and licensed business. (I researched this online and not only do they have a decent website, they are even on file with the Brevard County Tax Collector's office and are in a building right next to the City of Melbourne!) If this company is really and truly everything I have heard, then there are still some good responsible companies in this world.
I told the gentleman not to call me again because I don't own a home, but I thanked him for the info and told him that I would refer anyone who I thought could be helped to them. They haven't called since!
