PLEASE READ MY STORY !!

I recently bought an iPhone 5 from craigslist for the first time and I had a great experience. I met the guy, he was very nice and the phone was what it was sold as. So I decided to sell my old Galaxy S3 on craigslist. I was asking for 260, and I got an offer for 360. I was happy to see that my item was selling quickly. The person that contacted me was John Mcmillen. The area code was from Florida, so when he said he didn't have time to come see the product I believed it. He kept saying this phone was for his "fiancé." In all the texts he seemed very impatient, asking to ship the product out immediately. So me, being a naive 18 year old, I didn't hesitate to ship this out immediately. He said he was going to pay me with PayPal, and that I needed to reply to pay-pal with the tracking number then I would receive my payment. So I replied to paypal, and I DID get a confirmation email.
I was at work at the time, so I asked my boyfriend to ship the item via USPS international mail. He did just that, but when I got home I later found out he had shipped it to 4 Broad Str, Marina Island,Lagos,Nigeria, 23401. I sent "John" the tracking number and once he got that it seemed like he wasn't even interested in the product anymore. At first he was VERY annoying, and very persistent.
When a couple of days had passed and I still didn't receive my money I decided to contact Pay-Pal. I explained my situation and they immediately told me it was all a scam. They said that if it were real that I would have received my money before I even shipped it out. This whole time I was receiving fake email from this guy that looked like they were from Pay-Pal. I lost 60 dollars shipping this phone USPS international, and I lost a new Samsung Galaxy S3 with an otter box. Please watch out for people that want you to ship them their item out of the country. Looking back these clues were very obvious, but I guess it is a learning experience.

Thank you for this.  This same gentleman called me in response to a craigslist add placed in indiana.  He was so eager and wanted to pay the price I was asking.  Terrible ploy because everyone and I mean everyone tries haggling once!  So immediately I began searching for the guys name and craigslist scams via paypal.  All of it seemed legit but I started searching the number and multiple complaints come up.  Thanks for sharing this post because this is very similar to my situation, except I havent sent the product and I will not send it until I receive payment.  I will also only send it within the US because I know my sellers protection rights!

Same thing just happened.. Posted ad on craigslist.  Guy offered $150 over asking price to ship it to his fiance and wanted us to ship it to Africa.  Glad I found this information because it just didn't feel right!

I haven't received a phone call, but this phone number was listed in a fishy email from "Zillow". Please educate yourselves and family before sending out the type of personal information that is requested here. Sending some unknown person your full name, address, number of occupants, if you work nights, how much money you have today, etc.
