Received a call this morning and on the caller ID it looked like a local call. After reading the above post I am sure that they are using what is called ID Spoofing. They can make it look like someone is calling you from your city.
This happened to us at the beginning of the year. The Waka scam was using our phone number in the local area. We reported it to the FCC and the calls stopped.
File complaints on the DNC and the FCC. That is what we done and our scam calls have dropped from 18 to 21 a day down to about 2 a month. So far we have filed over 123 complaints since the 1st of the year.
Let's band together and pluck a few feathers from these Vultures and stomp on the Cockroaches.
I just received 2 calls from this # im in pa. and on the do not call list my cell phone always has been and i never get spam calls ever!! I also had my yahoo account hacked for the first time in 15 years the other day and after i straightened that mess out i listed my cell phone # as a backup security feature.the strange thing after i did that all of a sudden i get this bs caller!! Im wondering if anyone else has a similar issue or am i thinking about what has changed lately a little to hard?
They asked me for personal information like e-mail and school I attend, I said I was uncomfortable giving out anything more than my name unless I knew more about the "job" he was talking about and what company he worked for etc. The man or computer(?) hung up on me after I asked. It was way too shady.
