Got a call, but deleted the vmail they left (by mistake). But, if it is someone claiming to be the IRS, I've had that call before and called them back. Pure scam, but fun to toy with.
Received a message on 6/29 stating it was the IRS and I needed to call 206-201-2400. I called; it did not go through. I immediately assumed it was a scam because I think I would receive notification in the mail if it were truly the IRS. Received a second call on 6/30 from a person with a foreign accent and had a hard time understanding her. I asked where she was from and she said Washington DC. I told her she was not from Washington DC and she hung up on me. I called the number back that she had called from and miraculously got the same person. I asked her why she hung up on me and she said it was because I said she wasn't from Washington DC. I told her this was the second call I had received and wanted to know what the IRS needed from me and she hung up again. I've tried to call again several times, but the number is busy. Guess she got the message! If these are known scams, why can't the numbers be disconnected??
Well, they are criminals. Hard core Indian and Pakistani scammer/extortionists and as such ignore all US laws. Invest in a call blocker. Not perfect, but it can help.
