I got a call like this as well today. The man had a very thick Indian accent and I could barely understand him. He offered me a 500 dollar gift card but said I'd have to pay 3.95 s/h. I said I wouldn't give my credit cardninformation over the phone but he was very persistent. His name was Frank Morisson. This sounds shady, I don't think I'll be participating after reading these other posts with similar stories.
The caller (with an accent I can't identify) told me my number was selected to receive a free $500 visa gift card. I suspected a scam and hung up. I didn't enter anything that would have had this as a prize.
I had a caller with what sounded like a possibly Indian accent call me at work talking about how he would send me $100 gift certificates to various places. I told him to call me back after I got off work. He did call me back and I listened to his pitch until he said I had to pay for shipping and handling. I told him I had no way to confirm that his offer was legitimate, so he suggested I call their customer service center directly at 1-888-643-9227. This number has a long page about how this is a scam. I will not be calling it.
I received a call from(813-666-8125) a man with a foreign accent and I could barely understand what he is saying. I REALLY am hard of hearing but these people that are calling our phone numbers with the accents use it to their advantage by laying the accent on thick and talking fast. After he was finished telling me I was one of 17 phone numbers chosen to win a $500 GIFT CARD, $50 GAS CARD and $3000 FOR TRAVELING. I should have mentioned from the start that I advised the man that I would not give him any personal information such as, credit card number, checking account information. He again stated all I needed to do was pay the $3.95 s/h. I told him again that I am hard of hearing and that he keeps talking to fast, then says only $3.95 s/h, okay. I told him this sounds so much like a scam. I was suprised that he didn't hang up. He said for me to go to google and type their company name VIP SAVINGS CENTER and that will show me everything is legit because of their webpage. I pulled the webpage up while on the phone with him and said I still don't give out info over the phone and told him I OK HIM take the $3.95 s/h off visa gift. He said he no it had to come from me and I literally have .88 cents to my name. He said can I get the money in my account by tomorrow. I said I literally have no money. He said ok then we ended the call.
