Yeah, this is some type of a scam. Received the same phone call, asked them to put me on the do not call list. THey said "I'm sorry it's computer generated." As soon as I told the lady I wasn't a home owner, they hung up on me. Also, When you pick up, a recording plays babbling about some stimulus bill and you need your home evaluated to receive 3k from the government. That is [***] I'm pretty sure.
Just play along and send them to a bogus address- like a business. After they waste their gas money they might get as tired as we are of them. If everybody starts doing this, they won't be able to stay in business. If they call you back & complain, tell them the only way to stop this is to quit calling.
The usual scam is they want to come out to your home, do a free energy audit and "prove" to you that you can save a lot on your energy bills if you agree to buy fluorescent lighting from them at hugely inflated prices than what they will cost from your local hardware store. They may even offer a refund guarantee or some ridiculous warranty. People generally report great difficulty in getting a refund or exercising the warranty.
This seems like a good idea....might have to try it since I have answered once and listened to the message and pushed "1" to "schedule" my visit, where i told the girl that this service does not apply to me and she hung up on me. This has been going on for months now and from different area codes....maybe this will teach them. They waste my time, why can't I waste theirs. If they actually went to the address I sent them to, and then called me back to complain, I probably would not answer.
This number calls everyday and sometimes they hang up..I started blocking the number and they. Always find a way through..I am very sick and tired of the harassment there has to be something the public can do.
