Called and asked for "Daniel," said "You got the wrong number," lady replied,"Well maybe you can help me...could you please donate to the women who have breast cancer," said I was low on funds. She replied,"even just a little, I'll send an envelope," I said "sorry," and hung up while she kept taking. Won't take no for an answer, and is pushy.
She asked for the head of the household. I asked if she was going to turn off my electricity. She said "no". Then I told her that I wasn't interested if she couldn't do anything for me. I hung up on her after that.
Asked for head of household. I told that was not me. She asked if the head of the household had another phone number where he or she could be reached. I said yes and have her the number that she called from. I hung up and blocked her number.
Female voice asked for me by name, when I replied "Speaking" (didn't want to say "yes" to avoid giving a scammer an audio cut/paste giving authorization for a purchase or something) sounded like call transferring to a slightly different female voice (probably robot). Asked if they could count on me for a donation to help women with breast cancer if they sent me an envelope. I said no. Voice thanked me and hung up. Don't believe nonprofit, think robot scammer (but getting harder to tell...).
I have signed up for several Job search web sites . They have in the "fine print" which I only ssaw after it wads too late, a clause advising you that by agreeing to the terms of the sites work search, I give them authorization to sell my contact info to 3rd party telemarketers for credit repair, education funding, etc. Etc.
I am certain this is how they got my info, because the calls began immediately after I gave my info to "Zip Recruters" and "Career finders". They now call about 6 times a day, bet 5 and 8 pm.
I feel hopeless about this situation, because I really have no extra $ to put towards the " call block option " with my phone co.
I was stupid for trusting ANY internet business to act responsibly
