This number called our business today at 1037 hours.  The caller ID said "Los Angeles CA" which meant it was definitely not a customer, so I was silent in case it was an idiot-recording waiting for a voice to activate.  A woman said, "Hello" so I answered her.  She said needed to speak with the person in charge of the business telephone account.  When I asked why, she claimed that Spectrum was doing some "construction" in our area that would impact our business.  (She made it sound as if our current telephone service might be impacted by the alleged "construction.")  When I pointed out that we don't have Spectrum, thus how could their construction affect us? she primly insisted on only being able to speak to the person in charge of the business telephone account.  She was quite adamant about it, as if she had state secrets that she could only divulge to that individual.  When I told her I was the person, she started to launch into a spiel about how they had just finished construction in our area that could provide x amount of internet speed and world-class business phone service, or something to that effect.  I wearily told her that we're not interested and disconnected.  Ugh!  Life was easier when there was just one phone company.
