I got a call saying they were from Microsoft and that my computer is reporting back suspicious info... I told the man on the phone this sounded like a phishing call so would have to call back. They gave me a phone of 323-284-6307. I just called the number. There is no way this number can truly be Microsoft!!! First of all Microsoft would be 800 or 888... Secondly, when I call the number back at 8 PM at night I get a recording saying "There is no one available to take your call".
I got a call from this number also. A guy with a thick accent said Microsoft had detected unusual activity on my computer and put his tech on the phone to tell me what to do. Said they were NAK Computers in L.A. but refused to give me their address. I hung up.
I received a call also from a ma n with a thick accent, said his name is ALEX. with NAK Computers in L.A. Calif. Gave me the 323-284-6307 when I said I had to wait and call him back. ( # 1-1019 showed up on my caller id). He said he needed me to open my computer and follow his instructions to remove the viruses off it....
My 83 year old neighbor received numerous calls from this number. Unfortunately she gave them her bank card information and when was told that didn't work gave them credit card information. Already $1000 has been transferred from her bank account and $250 charged on one credit card. If her ex hadn't told her this was a scam and to get to the bank she would have been ripped off for more. She's in the process of contacting Chase and Barclays to ask if there has been any suspicious activity on those cards. Just hang up and if you can block future calls.
