Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
I have received 3 calls in the last week from individuals saying they are from the Microsoft service department. This time I asked the his name and phone number so I could call him back. His name was given as Peter Williams (he had a strong Indian accent). 1 323 287 5439. Microsoft does not call people. This is clearly a scam.
I got a call from this number, when I answered it was a recording stating that "I" had dialed the wrong extension. I like to mess with these people so I called back. They answered some "Criminal Investigation"something or other. I said, what do you want. He asked for my name I said no. He said is this Vicky? Mind you I am man with a very gruff voice. I said "do I sound like a Vicky?" He said sorry to bother you and hung up. Strong Mid Eastern or Indian accent.
I received a call from this number as well, stating they were with the IRS and that there is going to be action taken against me. When I asked what it was regarding he stated that he needed my social security number before providing that information. I told him no, he said then I better be prepared for what legal action is going to be taken against me. (Strong Middle Eastern Accent as well.)
This same number called me and left threatened message. I called back he said i need to get a lawyer and he said he had my s s# and i owe $771 to all American payday loan and i was going to be served papers monday by sheriff. I told him to get a lawyer he's going to need one.
For Extortion Scam Operations, File reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,CFB,FTC & FCC.. Emails can be attached to complaints filed with IC3, the cyber crimes division of the FBI.

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
