This call is indeed associated with the San Diego Zoo. If you call them the person who answers will repeat the info they typically leave on your answering machine (i.e. this is the San Diego Zoo donor services group) and they ask how they can help you. I said please remove me from your call list. They asked for the number and removed me from the list. The whole call took about 30 seconds, they did not try to sell me anything, and now (hopefully) I will no longer get a call EVERY day. I can't tell you if the removal worked for sure because I just took care of this 5 minutes ago. I guess I will find out if I get a call tomorrow.
Just got a call from this number -- didn't answer it since I'm getting mainly telemarketing calls -- ID said it was the san diego zoo calling, but the san diego zoo is about 1/2 mile from my house and I'm in the 619 area code.
It is the San Diego Zoo. They use a service out of L.A. to do their membership drives. My membership just ran out and I just got a call from them today. I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number, and my caller ID just said "out of area", but after reading the posts here, I remembered the same thing happening last year. They called when my membership had run out and I asked at that time why it wans't a local number. The caller told me they are just hired out for membership renewal calls.
Thanks for the information, as they have been calling my house many times also. I did not pick up the call until just now and they said they were from the San Diego Zoo.
The caller ID only shows "California Call" which to me designates a cell phone. It did not show "San Diego Zoo."
And because of that....bottom line, I would have not believed him even if he had said he was from the zoo!
