Who is it

I called back this number 323-331-9693and it says "thank you for calling your call is important to us please continue to hold for the next available representative" when someone got on the line he said this is Damian with "Convergent Outsourcing" I asked what that was and he said "its a business" I asked what kind of business and he said he "was not at liberty to discuss that since I do not know who I'm talking to" to which I replied that I don't know who I am talking to either, and he said "ok have a nice day" and he hung up on me. Must be bill collecting or some telemarketing?????

On January 14, 2013, BBB recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding billing and customer service issues. Consumers allege they are billed by Convergent Outsourcing Inc for a debt they do not owe; when they call the creditor, they get confirmation they do not owe anything. Consumers claim they receive numerous calls from Convergent Outsourcing Inc, but when they attempt to return the calls, they cannot reach an operator and must leave a message. Consumers also allege the company will not send a copy of the collection letter when requested.

Convergent Outsourcing Inc is working with BBB in an effort to eliminate the underlying cause of the pattern of complaints.

*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time,date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

I have to wonder why a “legitimate company” would need so many different phone numbers to conduct business.

Ok, this is a strange company record.  According to their web site, they are located in Atlanta, Ga and have been in business since 1955.
Now the BBB gives them an B- rating with 1124 complaints and 21 negative reviews (how does that pan out)  They also say that the business was established in 1950, that they are headquartered in Washington State, and that they are registered with the Washington Dept. “Convergent Resources strives to avoid a divergence when it comes to collections. The company and its subsidiaries provide accounts receivable management, collection, and customer care services to a variety of industries throughout the US. Clients include banks and financial institutions, retailers, utilities, and telecommunications, cable, and satellite providers. Its Convergent Revenue Cycle Management division offers health care industry collection services to hospitals, helping them recover payments from insurers and other creditors. Convergent Outsourcing provides consumer accounts receivable services. Convergent Commercial is a commercial collections agency.”

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I received a letter and arrangements for debt with bofa, boy, that's a laugh, bank? If only, lol.  Convergent even offers up to three time payments to pay off and 30% if you do at the agreed time...?
