I have a post on Craigslist Hartford, CT offering cleaning services. I included my phone with the posting. Got an 8 part text from "Patrick Smith" from the number 657-667-7831 in response to it. My scenario is basically the exact same as what other people have outline. We can only assume this is the same person/s. Of course, I recognized almost immediately it was a check scam attempt and provided no further personal information. I did post on whitepages.com to flag the number as a scam attempt. For a little personal satisfaction, I am acting as if I am interested and sending various mundane and benign text messages to Patrick Smith. Hopefully I can waste as much of this persons time as possible. Beware of this number 657-667-7831.
Haha got an email message from them yesterday, as I was trying to sublease my apartment for rent with a 10 month sublease. Said they will be here july 15 and I've been so anxious to sublease my room, I believed them at first. They gave me a story as being a student that just graduated from college in Germany and they're in Guam right now doing research, but coming here for a masters degree study that doesn't start until March, but they were coming here in July? Then they wanted me to tell them a little about myself, and I was dumb enough to. But all I told them was basics like school and where I come from (not my address, just like race). My email, name, job title and phone number was in my signature. However, they was asking me for information (name, address, phone number, rent total) so they could send a cashiers check and they wanted pictures of the place. I responded saying they could look at when they got here and ever since then, no email response, but I did get a text this morning from this number saying it was the same person, Mercy Gregory. I completely deleted my email account, changed my contact information with EVERYTHING associated with that email. Now I just blocked the phone number in my iPhone.
got the same one, she said she was from france though. and I called this person out through text and email. they continued to contact me. I basically told them to eff of.
Person Contacted my by the name of Smith Anderson, 323-364-3489, emailed my Dry Cleaning business for pricing on 20 King Comforters. They wanted to send me a down payment then said they will forward me a credit Card because they needed me to pay the movers as well because they didn't have a working credit card system. Said they are moving from texas and would tip me just as long as the $2500 was "maid payment" (get it "maid"!) Lol
