Called about craigslist ad, wanted to know if item was still available, then offered check as payment and his movers would pick up the item, after the check clears (Note: Banks will release funds on a check for the benefit of its customer without first making sure the check was good. Banks mite release the money after 7 days, but it might take 3 or more weeks for the check to totally clear)
Told caller that his movers could pay me cash when they pick up the item, and if this was a problem, then the caller from (323) 391-8960 must be a scammer.
I never received any return call about the movers being able to pay.
I also recieved a text message from this number inquiring if an item from Craigslist was still available and if it was they would send a check for the asking price. When it "cleared" they would send their shipper to pick it up. I checked the phone number on this website (whocallsme.com) and found this number to be a possible scammer. I did not bother answering the text. Thank you "Who Calls Me"
I received a text message from this number regarding an item we had for sale on Craigslist. I knew immediately from the content of the text and the grammatical errors that it was a scan. I responded "In person - cash only". Of course, no response.
Just received the same text asking if it was still available, that they wanted for said price. I said yes it is. They came back with the same as others above, "could they send a check, I would have it tomorrow and once it cleared in 24 hrs they would send their movers" Wanted my name and address. Told them cash in person, have not heard back yet
Just received a text from the same number saying that they would send a check for the item i had on craigslist and when the Check cleared that the movers would come pick the item up. I asked for a money order don't haven't heard back..
