This caller wanted the numbers off of our copy/scanner machines. When asked what company they were they hung up. With all the cyber hacking this is serious business. I believe they were trying to hack out machines and obtain sensitive information that is stored in the memory of the machine.
Received a call from this number, as well as another one listed private. With a man and woman stating that they were with "customer service" and needed to know the number on our copier to enable them to send out toner. I know the company very well that handles our maintenance and products for our copier, and in almost 9 years never have they called me by phone to ask such questions. When I let the callers know they were not associated with our company, they were quick to hang up. Just for kicks, I called them and hackled them for a minute. A woman kept hanging up on me. Finally after calling them back to back for a few minutes, a man was placed on the phone stating that he was "supervisor". I asked for our number to be removed and he quickly stated it would cost me $49.99 to have it removed. I promptly told him he was full of bs and explained that I knew he was a scammer.
