So I told them I will no use PayPal and this is the next text I got

So here is how I Responded and haven't heard back from them since read below please

First I will have one my co workers at the RCMP investigate this number You can understand my situation right

This person offered to purchase an item I had listed on Kijiji, including the listed price + $500 for shipping to his fiance.  He/She said PayPal was the only option available.

I was told the money had been sent and I received two e-mails ostensibly from PayPal to confirm that the money had been paid.  The e-mails were obvious spoofs.  The e-mail's return path was [email protected], which may or may not be meaningful.  Names mentioned in the e-mail: Samuel Tony and Goodluck Tope.

I logged into my PayPal account.  No payments was received.

When I sent this message, "The money has not appeared in my PayPal account yet. E-mails are meaningless because they can be spoofed, so I can only ship when PayPal's website tells me that the funds have cleared," all contact ceased.  He/She has obviously moved on to the next sucker.  Don't be that sucker!

How I knew the e-mail was a spoof:

1.  SPELLING AND GRAMMAR ERRORS:  PayPal knows how to use the English language.

2.  NO PAYPAL LOGO:  E-Mails from PayPal include their logo.

3.  PAYMENT PENDING WAITING FOR CONFIRMATION OF SHIPMENT:  Our agreement was that I would ship AFTER payment had cleared.

4.  VIEW SOURCE:  The e-mail came from [email protected].  PayPal uses its own mail servers.  It does not send e-mail from gmail.

5.  OVERPAID:  The payment amount ostensibly received was double what we had agreed on.

6.  SHIPPING BROKER'S INFORMATION CONFIRMED:  Since I am the shipper and I don't use a broker, it would be impossible for it to be confirmed.

7.  NIGERIA:  Many, many scams come from Nigeria.  I will not do business of any kind with anyone in Nigeria until the Nigerian government eliminates this problem.  I recommend you do the same.

Hi, I do not do shipping without payment first by cash (Interac only) or certified check. Don't even think about offering Western Union. Shipping will not cost $400 but around 45$.

It was FUN to make you loose your time! One less person you couldn't fool :-) A simple Google search on you at the beginning of our discussion made me laugh!

got a text message from 424-252-5643 asking what my best offer was for my Nikon camera on Kijiji Ottawa. i had also received another text message before hand from 860-971-0363 asking if my "post and item was legit and not a scam cuz i'm getting the item for my fiancee in abroad as a birthday gift, so i will be offering you $700 for it including the shipping fee and do you have a paypal acct so i can transfer the money now?" after this message i got the text message asking if it was  my best offer from another number. The message was "i have no problem with the price and i will like to know the present condition of the item because am getting it for my FIANCE as a birthday gift, but am On a Business Trip right now and i will be happy if you can help me ship it to my FIANCE and i will pay you extra $200 for the shipping cost to my FIANCE via CANADA POST airmail or fedex express shipping" after telling the person about my item they insisted i set up a paypal account and send my email address and name. I told the perosn that i will be waiting a few days until the funds are received and not returned, the person then said "No am sending it as a gift which you will get right away"  i then received a text "i have send the payment kindly check your email INBOX and JUNK folders and let me know if you got the comfirmation email", "You got it now???"  I did get two email confirmations in my spam email (definitely not legit) i then told the person that i sold it and he was a fraud and reporting them to the RCMP! i haven't heard from the person since. Why would someone send a used gift to a finacee via mail? with spelling mistakes this is totally a scam!!
