My experience similar to all the others described here. Spoke to two different men with Indian accents, one said his name was Adam.  Claimed to be from "Windows Service Center".  Some of what he said made sense,  but when he asked for money to "fix" my problems, I knew it was some kind of scam. These are the prices he gave, not to "fix" the problem, but just a required "registration fee":
1 year-$129
3 years-$189
5 years-$249
lifetime-$319
Then he said he would have to work on my computer (remotely) for about two hours to find all the problems.
Unfortunately he did trick me into giving him access before I knew what he was doing.  He started opening and looking at documents stored on my desktop!!!
I told him he caught me at a bad time, and I need time to think about anything that required giving cash to a stranger who calls ME. He finally gave up on me.

I just spent 40 minutes on the telephone with "Adam" from 323-522-5366.  He also had a very thick accent from India.  Gave me my Microsoft ID #, etc.  He had me check several files on my computer, finding error and warning messages.  After assuring me my computer would eventually crash, wanted me to connect to the Internet via teamviewer.  I told him I was not going to do that without checking with my computer technician.  He transferred me to "Roy Wilson," a Level 5 Technician, again with Microsoft Support Service Center in LA.  I assured him I was NOT going to connect with teamviewer without checking with my technician first.  He asked when I would call back.  Told him I didn't know, might be tomorrow, and he said to ask for Roy Wilson only.  He assured me they were having troubles in my local area and that is why Microsoft was calling ALL of their customers.  He then hung up on me when I said I didn't know when it would be I might get back with him.  Reading the above, I am so thankful I listened to my warning bells going off!!

If you let these people download anything and remote into your computer, you need to do a system restore and change all your passwords after the restore. If they get into your e-mail, they can pretty much get into all your accounts by pretending to forget the password and resetting it for you. Bad stuff. They tried to scam my mom. I called them back and told them I hope they burn in hell.
