The caller, Los Angeles CA (displayed as ID on our phone ), called us 07.28.2015 which day I already press # 1 to remove my phone from its calling list, and again @ 15:34, 08.03.2015.. We opted not to answer.
The number has been used to call people randomly since 06.10.2015 according www.800note.com. I 'll report to www.ftc.gov or www.fcc.gov/complaints
Caller, Los Angeles CA.
Call came in at 3:12pm with caller ID listed as Los Angeles CA.
They left a recorded message on the machine. Something about calling on behalf of "your electric company" (those words, not calling on behalf of Edison) about the American Recovery Act and a 14% increase in electric rates. Press 1 if you are a homeowner that spends more than $150/mo on your electric bill and would like to stop the 14% rate increase. Or, if we have reached you in error and would like to be taken off our list, please press 3. (So typical to put instructions like that on a machine.) I can tell it is a bogus call b/c the electric company wouldn't call me about fighting their proposed rate increase. Why would they help me take money from their pockets?
Needless to say, I would call this a telemarketing scam.
This robocaller phone my number today with a canned message that falsely stated, "This is an urgent public service announcement regarding how to lower your electricity bill" and purporting to represent my local utility company. As many posters have noted, this is another in a long string of solar energy contracting scams. According to jetames (see above), this scammer also phones from (818) 648-7597. This scam artist is so dumb, he/she/it even tried pulling the wool over the eyes of my neighbor, Tiger, Ventura County, who isn't fooled by anyone. You shouldn't be, either.
