You guys will LOVE this one. A heavily accented voice told me he was calling from "Microsoft Google" and that my computer was "detected in a routine scan as having serious virus issues. As part of a customer service, we will fix your computer one time only for free!" I happened to have a battery powered Fusion razor handy so I put it on the desk and moved the phone around, making the caller repeat himself four times because of the "interference" on my cell phone. He finally gave up.
My question is, with all the resources that the real Microsoft and Google have, why don't they put these guys out of business by bringing the computers and phones of these scam artists down?
From reading other posts, this might be the usual Microsoft virus folks calling from India. I did not answer and no message was left.
They called from 565 454-3434 the other day - BTW 565 is NOT a legitimate area code in the USA, but I blocked it anyway.
I called the 323 number back - it's a disconnected number.
Please purchase a call blocking phone or area code blocking device - they work and they are inexpensive.
Recently, I learned that each area code in the USA has the potential of 6,000,000-8,000,000 phone numbers!
