Answered on break at work. Had to ask the guy to repeat his name three times ("Edward") because I couldn't hear him over all the background noise and his thick accent. What he said he was calling for was nothing I ever applied for (said it was a follow up for some paperwork). Demanded my number be removed before hanging up.
Caller ID says "CALIFORNIA." I have received this call several times now. Usually I allow the machine to pick up but this time I answered. It was a person from India or Pakistan, calling to tell me I had a virus on my computer. I said, "How do you now this?" and that is when he started stuttering. I told him I am a computer tech (I am) and that I was sending him a virus. He cursed me and hung up.
They want your personal info so they can get to your bank account; and either use it for themselves, or to fund ISIS.
