I got call from same no 323-744-7271 just few min back. As I came last week to US and taken new phone no. and within 1 week i got this call so thought someone must got my details and trying to scare me. Its really strange how they get our personal information and thats to within such a short period. Is there anyone formally logged any complaints in police for this type of calls?

If you ever posted your phone number on a social site, or used it when ordering online, or otherwise typed it in your computer, or gave it to a friend whose computer was attacked ... your number may be known to the scammers.

Got a call from this number on 04/28. A lady was on the phone who I am pretty sure was an Indian. She told me she is from IRS and they are coming to arrest me for tax evasion. I immediately knew it was a fraud but wanted to understand to what extent they know my personal info. I engaged them in a conversation and realized they have very limited info about me. She said I transferred money overseas that has been channeled to middle-east and asia. Said I have a warrant against me and a police officer is on his way to arrest me. I bluffed that I work with Sherrif's office/ county police and there is no way that there would be a warrant against me and I wouldn't know. The moment she heard I work with police, she immediately hung-up.
I called them back and spoke to 2 different men who both spoke in Indian accent. They dropped the call the moment I told them that I was with my attorney
It was clear that they don't have a lot of my info, probably basic info like phone number, DOB, last 4 digits on SSN but no info like my address, employer etc. The info they had could have leaked from several possible sources like online auto insurance quotes, medical insurance quotes etc. These frauds resort to social media and compile the info together for the target customers.
