Received call from above # , calling for my daughter, call went to answering machine. Caller identified himself as Roy Burnette, Dept. Of US Treasury. I called back cause the message was garbled. This time, the person, (which sounded like the original caller), identified himself after I asked, as James Scott, badge # 6892. He said, some kind of enforcement was issued against my daughter, & that a Treasury officer, had tried to deliver the paperwork. He also said that if my daughter doesn't contact him or the office, a warrant for her arrest will be issued. She will spend 6 months in jail, with no bail. My daughter's last name is no longer what this person was saying.
Claims to be from the U.S. Treasury Legal Dept. Guy named Mark Johnson, who has an accent. He claims that if I don't call him back, I will have a serious legal mess and ends up with "have mercy" and "god bless". A real scammer for sure..
I called the number back, and this time a John Marshall says that pursuant to a CP503 form (IRS) I did not fill out my last income tax return correctly and did not pay the money owed. Gee, I got a refund! He said that the time to work out a payment plan is past, and they will take my home, my bank accounts, and anything else I own. I would also be arrested. I told him it was a civil matter and I did not think I could be arrested - he assured me I WOULD be arrested. This guy was reading off a script and there was noise in the background. Again, this is one element of the IRS scams going around. He never came out a demanded money, but I could go to my local wire transfer service and send some. What a jerk! Google IRS CP503 for info on that this actually is.
Never call a scammer back at a number they provide, they have caller ID and will flag your number as having a live person to try and scam.

IRS does not contact by phone for such a thing as this. They send a letter and a certified letter. So when this caller said he was from the United States Treasury I immediately knew this was a fraudulent call. Did not like it, however, that he had my name and address. Being unlisted, due to my husbands occupation, this irritates the heck out of me. He even said he would need me to call back to set up a call with my attorney. What a load of carp!
someone with a heavy accent called from this # and left msg saying they were from the "dept of legal affairs" and that i was in some kind of "legal misfortune" and to call back to resolve and to have a "blessed day". did not call back nor plan to. i suspect i be "visited" by their "police" soon. bring it on!
