I had exactly the same experience today - "Cathy" offered to mail a cashier's check for my piano on Craigslist, and pick it up after the check clears. I was suspicious so I am glad I googled. I don;t think I'll be taking her up on her offer - there's no evidence on the web of any legitimate use of this phone number.
Received a text from someone at this number regarding a piano I have listed on Craigslist. It appeared to be legitimate at first until they offered to send me a cashier's check for the piano, sight unseen. Googled the number and found that two other people this month had been contacted by someone from this number. One of them received a check that turned out to be fraudulent.
Received text from this number from so-called Cathy who said they wanted to buy my piano listed on Craigslist. They said they would send cashier's check, I deposit it, and when it clears, they will have their movers pick up the piano. The cashier's check did not arrive. Fraud going on here, will report this to the police.
I also receive message from Cathy saying that she wants to buy the piano i post on craigslist. And she want to pay buy cashier cash and will pick up until the check is clear. And later I receive a check from some one called bruce stevens from AR. And he mailed a big cash nearly two thousand dollars.
And he continue persuaded me to deposit the check, claiming that it's 100% risk free, blabla...
This definitely is a scam.
Same stuff! Will send cashier's check and send movers when check clears.---NOT! Smelled bad so I sold the piano to a music student for CASH. If the check shows up it will go directly to the Houston FBI office. BTW this is a Los Angeles area number. Good job spotting the scam!
