Call from this number. A "gentleman" with a thick accent told me that he was calling from the U.S. Government in Washington (with a 323 area code?). He said that I had been selected for a government grant that I wouldn't have to pay back in the sum of $5125. I was selected because I paid my taxes on time and was not convicted of any crimes. At that point, I said I wasn't interested and disconnected. Rather obviously a scam. Needs to work on his story a bit!
John, with a thick Indian accent, called and said "there was a problem with my windows computer, that lost of people had been infected with a virus, and that if I turn on my computer on he could help me see if I had been infected." So I asked what's the name of the virus, no answer, kept saying "lots of people have had problems, your computer could just shut down."
He said he worked for a company in Salt Lake City, I ask for the company phone number, he just ducked the question.
I asked where he was, he said India, so I asked for the phone number in India, no answer, just kept repeating the same thing, "we just want to see if you have some problem with your windows computer.
He keep saying "nobody can control your computer, but you." the usual double talk of a scam.
I asked him how he got my number, no answer, just more fast talking, "your computer might be infected, blah,blah, blah, I can help you."
He called from (323) 801-0739 and blocked company name.
I could hear other phones ringing in the back ground. Bottom line, this guy wanted my computer on so he could remotely connect to it, send a virus.

Called on several diff numbers. Could not understand them. His said his name was Randy - when I asked what company he was calling from he would not tell me and then hang up. Called both my business line and cell phone claiming that there is a law suit against me. I want to know who is selling my information.
Received a call from (801)801-0739. Picked up - no one there. Immediately received a second call from a blocked number. Didn't answer. Received 7 calls yesterday (05-24-12) from the blocked number. Didn't pick up any of them.
