Ditto. Robo message with this number saying IRS was after me. called the number and asked the name and location of the person I was talking to. Said his name was inspector something or other at constitution ave in Washington, D.C. In a foreign accent. I asked him to spell his name and he hung up.
"Hello. We have been trying to reach you" said the obvious female bot voice. The next sentence mentioned the IRS, that's when I hung up. Another transparent IRS scam call.
Here's what the real IRS says:
Quote:The IRS will not:
Call you to demand immediate payment. The IRS will not call you if you owe taxes without first sending you a bill in the mail. Demand that you pay taxes and not allow you to question or appeal the amount you owe. Require that you pay your taxes a certain way. For instance, require that you pay with a prepaid debit card. Ask for your credit or debit card numbers over the phone. Threaten to bring in police or other agencies to arrest you for not paying. For more information see IRS Urges Public to Stay Alert for Scam Phone Calls
Do not call these criminals back. Do not give them any information.
This number has been calling me. I did call back and they said they were the IRS. I questioned the woman and she put me on hold though I was actually disconnected. I called back and a man with a thick accent told me to Never call them again. I could hear it was a call center..
