it's a debt collector and a really unprofessional one at that simply called and asked me for my social security number. I told them sorry I don't know who you are and I'm not giving you that info she said I need to verify your social so I can tell you who I am. and I simply said once again NO I don't know who are. She then asked me if for my last four numbers and I simply hung on. Their called Glass Mountain Debt Collections .
You can remind her when she calls back that under Federal law, the FDCPA, she is required to identify herself, the name of the company she is calling from, their address for the receipt of legal documents, a valid business phone number and their CCA# for your state all without knowing who you are. She can also state the name of the person she is trying to reach and that this is an attempt to collect a debt. If she refuses to provide the above information first, simply hang up. Each time she calls demand that above information before even acknowledging your name. She will either provide the information or eventually give up. Keep a log of all calls and a synopsis of what was said during the calls. That might come in handy later.
