Fake Debt collectors- was told by the attorney general not to respond. They are preying on people due to the the government shutdown; and the fact we can not report them as of the moment. The government is very aware of them and are looking into their operations. They switch between numbers so be aware of that. Do not give them any information.
I have information that the FBI has tapped these clowns calls. They better get ready for the shakedown of their lives! Tape their calls in case they need additional evidence..
I get several calls a day from this company. When I answer them, I immediately say "If this is a debt collector, please be advised that your call is being recorded." I immediately ask them for the name of their company and their mailing address so I con correspond with them in writing. They then proceeded to tell me that they are not "obligated" to do anything with me "in writing" and that they do all transactions by phone or email. I then referred the very rude and hateful non-English speaking man on the line that that is illegal, and they should really review the Fair Debt Collection Practices law. I then ask them for the original creditor information and advise that I will only deal directly with them. At that point they hang up on us.
I got a call from 323 927-2326 . They said they were going to serve papers for someone I don't know. When I told them I don't know this person they hung up . Another time they called and said this person put me as a personal contact to serve papers asked me if I knew where she was. Told them they were lying, they hung up. Good thing I don't fall for there lies!
I have a couple friends who have received this call (As well as many others) and since I work in the police department, I have advised them and will advise you as well...
1. These calls are from fraudulent scam artists, not legitimate debt collectors
2. These people call from pre-paid cell accounts and many times have numerous accounts or numbers available.
3. While our hands are tied to an extent, report these numbers because there are some very specific things (Or shall I say threats) that you not only should report, but also could lead to criminal charges against these people
4. These lines are being traced and can be if the threat is reported.
5. Contact both the authorities and your local congressman to tell them the law can and should be changed so we can (As we want) to do more.
Most importantly, laugh at these idiots, tape them if you can, pay them nothing and realize all they do is make vial threats, with no basis.
Well happy to see I am not the only one with this problem. Yay for Google!! It is always the same reason they call We need you to call this number to confirm your adress for legal documents... Happy to see what I thought to be true is and now I can "troll" these people day in and day out if I do not just ignore them. Monday the person they are looking for I will tell them is dead along with the longest story I can get them to stay on the line for. And thats both times they call a day
