This is the first time I got called from this number, but I've been called from other numbers, sometimes "Private" or "Unknown." I left the Church in 1990 under very stressful circumstances and have had several addresses in 3 states since then. Somehow they obtained my new address and phone number (which is listed in my wife's name.) I'm also getting mail from them for the first time in 18 years...They must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel to dig up my info and start pitching to me again! My only suggestion is be persistent and threaten legal action/contact phone company, "Do Not Call" list and so forth.
I've received one phone call per week from different orgs all over the country asking for either my husband or his ex wife. She changed her name when they were divorced over 25 years ago and while she was still in the "church" We also receive approximatley 25lbs of mail per week from them, magazines, flyers, letters and DVD's. I don't know how to stop them. I toss all mailed items in the trash at the Post office and politely suggest that the person calling remove our number from that orgs list. You can't stop them. I don't believe threatening them with the no call list will work, it's to stop solicitation from for profit groups the "church" is a non profit. They are obviously getting desperate. Yelling or hanging up on them is futile, they (supposedly) have non-reactive minds and see things from a monolithic viewpoint. You could just ask them if they know Tom Cruise, ask them if they can get you his autograph and when they say no, ask them what use are they then and hang up! L Ron Hubbards copyrights have sadly (for the church) run out!
What was the process? I am having this problem with the AOLA, they call several times day, I have been out of Scientology for 30 years but they have strted calling to ask if I received a DVD. They keep sneding out new DVDs and calling and I tell them to stop but they don't. This is harassment. They are a non-profit so even though I am on the do not call list they have the right to call and I do not know what to do, they call at all hours.
I have been getting these calls from the 323 # for a month now, and as other posters have mentioned they ask about DVDs they mail out, and call at all hours from 9am up til 10pm. I have told them I have no interest and to stop but they keep calling. I would like to know from others on this board how they have stopped the calls. This is a real problem and on behalf of other suffers we need to post solutions-if there are any.
