I have received several calls from different people claiming to represent "American Telecommunications" or "ATS", all of them claiming that their company is the wholesale line provider for all telephone companies in the United States. The callers also claim that they are not selling anything, just trying to make sure that our phone provider is in compliance with new federal laws regarding rates, including capping rates at 24.5 cents per minute. Even when asked if they are trying to switch providers, they insist that they are not trying that.
Because the callers are blocking Caller ID (display shows Unknown Caller with no number) I have no way of knowing if they actually represent American Telecommunications, Inc. in Canton or not. If they do not, I apologize to the real American Telecommunications, Inc. and ask that they help in any way they can in tracking down the fake American Telecommunications or ATS.
