THIS PERSON CALLED ME AND SAID HE WAS MY COUSIN CALLING FROM MEXICO (I KNEW THE CALL WAS MADE FROM ILLINOIS) AND ASKED ME TO GUESS WHO HE WAS AS SOON AS I SAID A FAKE NAME HE SAID YEP IT'S ME I NEED YOUR HELP $$$$$$$ SURE I TOLD HIM I HAVE NO COUSIN NAMED XXXXX AND YOU ARE CALLING ME FROM ILLINOIS...CLICK.. HE HUNG UP WITHOUT SAYING GOOD BYE TO HIS DEAR COUSIN. WARNING THIS IS AN OLD SCAM TARGETING HISPANICS.
This number is not from Illinois like some suggest. It is from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. They called my buddy claiming to be a family member also. Everything just like the others stated above. They were in town and wanted to come by and visit. Guadalajara, Mexico has a country code of 52, an area code of 33, and an 8 digit local number. It appears to be from Illinois because most people are accustomed to seeing a 7 digit local phone number, not an 8 digit number. Because of this they interpret the 331 as the area code which is the area around Aurora, Illinois.
