We have received a number of calls in the last few days from different junk charities - breast cancer, veterans, etc. The call always starts with the same standard phrase: "Is the lady of the house there?". I bet all of them are coming from the same room. They disregard the Do Not Call list. When you block one number, they use another with different prefix. Quite annoying! I intent to copy this message to any site mentioning number they used.
They have called before w/same ph. no. but using the name BREAST CANCER AM, which is implied to be a charity, but for which I was unable to find any listing on the legitimate charity rating services.
When my limit is reached I will shop for one of the stand-alone blockers, which can block a few thousand numbers, and have more features than the phone blocker. Check them out on-line.
Also, Congress is working on a bill that would require the ph. cos. to provide more robust blocking services to their customers. But that may never happen.
