Got a call from 331-291-4384. Guy was posing as my cousin from California. Tried to get him to say his name or his parents names, but he was slick and went around the questions. I don't have any male cousins in California! I'm sure I'm about to get another phone call asking for money. My main concern is how did they get my house and cell number? Do they have my address too?
Someone from this number called my parents saying they were related to us. We feel this call was from scammer trying to get my elderly parents information.
Someone called my mom saying they were related to us. The caller said they were a cousin from San Diego on the way to visit us. Suddenly he called that he was close to our home. The guy mentioned he had got into an accident and needed money we started to understand it was a scam. The alleged relative placed naohter person on the phone who then told my mom that our so-called relative was bleeding because he hit himself with the steering wheel as he crashed. The accident supposedly happen when our alleged relative had a tire blowout and hit the car of another. The caller even knew the name of my sister so beware of these callers because they try to extract information from you and likely research the phone number before calling you.
Someone called my wife, while I was at work, posing as a cousin of mine. He knew our correct names and some of our relatives at my cousin's hometown down in Mexico (500+ mi. away). The caller said he was near Corona on the way to visit us in the Imperial Valley (CA). Two hours later he called saying that he was in the valley, in El Centro, CA. about 20+ miles away from home. The guy called 50 min. later saying that he had gotten in a car accident and needed money. The alleged relative placed another person on the line posing as the other driver in the accident. The guy insisted to my wife, that I would lend him the $1500 that he needed, My wife told him that we didn't have that kind of money on us, he then said for her to go to the bank and get some money. She told him that we did not have any money in the bank. She then called my parents in AZ for information to the whereabouts of my cousin, he happened to be in Mexico visiting his folks, over 500 miles away. Be careful with these types of calls, these people do their homework before calling you.
got a call on my cell from 331-215-8337. didn't answer since I didn't know number. looked it up....got this page....called the number about 5 mins after it called me JUST to see what it would say....got a Verizon message saying the number has been changed or is no longer in service...really...in five minutes? scam scam scam
