...my daughter got a strange call from this number...was saying they were a son of a relative and were asking about her...call was made to her house phone...person was from Mexico and someone that my son-in-law is supposedly related to but knows nothing about....just seemed very strange and just wanted to report in case anyone has other information about this number....

This is a scam that has been making the rounds. Most generally, the caller says they are a relative and that they are coming into town, and need directions or need to give a gift. The best bet is to ignore any further calls.
My mother recieved a phone call saying it was her nephew from mexico. He told her he would see her tomorrow and what kinf of candies she wanted from mexico. Very very strange how he knew the nickname of my cousin and also called my grandmother. Watch out for this. Don't give out any info.
