Just received a call this morning but knew right away it wasn't good. I hanged up. Reading these post, Im glad my guts were right. Do NOT carry any conversations or release any information until you know who they are. Get their info, put them on hold and look it up, otherwise , hang up.
My daughter received a phone call on 12/05/13 from a man saying he was her cousin, she asked him his name and he said I'm from the Fuentes family, which is one side of our family. My daughter gave me the telephone because she was eating. He started calling me Tía (Aunt) and was trying to get information about our family. He said he was going to arrive the next day. He called about 6 times this morning, we did not answer the phone. We know the next step was going to be him asking for money. It would be nice if we could agree to send him the money and set a trap for them with the police but I don't think police would like to get involved in this matter.
In what state are you in? I just received a call from the same number, with the same story, but he used a different last name. I am concerned, he said he will call again in the morning.
My parents just received a call from this number 331-803-4632today 2/22/14 saying that he was also from their family last name and that his nephew was being detained. And needed 1,400 dollars to be released. My mom called their family in Mexico and the nephew they referred to was at work. It is a scam! They had her house number and cell number please beware. They are also calling from a 331-802 prefix.
