Someone called our house phone just a few minutes ago claiming to be a cousin. It wasn't this number but instead: 331-807-7091. They were looking for my mom and knew both her first and last name. They said they were relatives on her side of the family, but wanted me to guess their name trying to make me feel bad that I had forgotten my "cousin." It was suspicious because 1) my cousins wouldn't play the guessing game for as long as this guy did 2) he spoke with a Mexican accent, and my family isn't from Mexico 3) my cousins refer to my mom by a different name, not the one they used. They finally gave me a name and I do have a family member by that name and I started speaking in English asking why he didn't tell me who he was at first. They completely didn't understand what I was saying and hung up. So annoying and scary. This is why I don't answer the house phone.
OMG! me too and I believe this guy and i gave him my home address.. what should i do? i already went to the police station and they told me to stay there and wait until he get there and then call the police wtf... Im so scare what might happen today... what you think i should do?
They usually follow up with a second call, claiming that the mythical nephew/cousin/grandchild is (1) detained in customs and needs money, (2) in the hospital after an accident and needs money, (3) is in jail and needs bail money, (4) has been kidnapped and his captors need money.... you get the idea.
Ya my mom got 1st call saying he was on his way from texas, then 2nt he crashed into someone and needed $500 to pay off the guy he hit. And as soon as they find out you dont have $ to send them they hang up. What a piece of work this people. Good thing is we got a hold of the person he was inpersonating & didnt send the SCAMER any money. I HOPE CARMA GETS A HOLD OF THIS S.O.B
