I got a call from the Tim from the Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officer Association and he explained to me that he was calling me to ask for my help on a community project they were working on for the Terminally ill and disabled children for the fishing camps and the hunts of a lifetime. I checked them out and they are legite and registered with the attorney generals office. I am glad to help out for the children and wish more business owners would do the same and give these organizations a chance to show all the good they do. There are a lot of scams out there and so I understand that people want to be careful but this is an organization that is legite and does so much good for the children of Alabama. Hope this helps some.
I spoke with a man named Mike, who said he was with the forestry service or some other state agency in AL. Montgomery number and the man said he was local and in my city, which put me on guard because my business is located 150 mile away from Montgomery. The man said that he collected donations from local businesses to donate to children's charities. When I started to explain that I had just opened my doors and could not afford to donate at this time, he hung up on me. I don't know if it's legit or not, but it was certainly rude.
Called me on my cellphone and asked for me by my first name. He asked how I was doing and I stated that I don't take cold calls. He said that he didn't know what I meant by cold calls and went on to ask me if I was not in business, I replied yes and asked him what he needed, speaking in firm manner. He said that He wanted some service but would call someone else who's more pleasant. Great. I blocked the number.
