I also answered, and they told me state troopers. I just hung up. So sick of scammers and telemarketers>:( I'm on a do not call list for crying out loud!!!
Received call on my cell phone, which is on DO NOT CALL list. Man said he was "representing" the Alabama State Troopers Association. Told him I knew he was NOT with the State Trooper Association, and to NEVER call my number, again. I think we hung up on each other about the same time. LOL. Added this number to my Reject List.
I received a phone call a person claiming to represent the American Association of State Troopers. He asked if I would be willing to make a donation. They offered to send me literature via snail mail. They did. It appears very fancy with a lot of information, phone numbers, a www.statetroopers.org website and a trifold pamphlet.
The literature state that "the American Association of State Troopers has retained Public Awareness, Inc., a professional fundraiser for charitable purposes, as a paid solicitor to conduct this program on their behalf." It also states "a portion of the gross sponsorship proceeds is used to defray the expenses of public education, administration and the cost of this appeal." Two decals are included with the mailing that "does not confer any special privilege, benefit, or membership to donor."
At the www.statetroopers.org website it states that "AAST is affiliated with the separate-but-related American Association of State Troopers Foundation, Inc.)" Also, their online donations are handled by 'Network for Good'. I will wait and call the www.statetroopers.org (800) 765-5456 listed on the website during business hours -- not the 800-708-2278 number listed in the mailed literature.
