This number called my mother-in-law's home, but asked for me by first name.......if they knew me, they could have looked in phonebook, for my name is listed there..........when I called back, heard noise in background, but said voice mail box was full. Sounds familiar to these others that have reported scams....looked up number, and said it belonged to a Jonathon Saliba in Auburn, AL, a Marcus Peterson in Auburn, AL, and an Auburn Indoor Arena in Lafayette, AL.
This number and 251-545-4812 are connected, they want donations for the disablilties police officers..the call comes from Auburn Alabama,..when I tell them I have made a donation they always want to dispute that I have made a donation this year.....thats when I hang up..looks like they would wise up...had enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most charities that call you the charity only gets 30% of your donation. The firm that is making the call keeps 70% for expenses. For charities that have "police" in the name the numbers are even worse, possibly as little as 5% goes to the the charity.
