Caller ID says "Cell Phone NC". They leave a message. Their software is too stupid to wait, so the beginning is cut off. I hear, "... up to 10 thousand dollars or more, you are qualified to receive up to 55 percent reduction on your current acccount, and you can pay back the remaining balance with a zero percent interest rate. For more information, press 9 now. Press 9 to speak with a representative. <pause> Good bye."
Sounds like an offer to reduce the principal and interest on either a loan or your credit card. I don't see why someone would out of the blue throw half of a loan away and then require no interest. Sounds like a way for the lender to go broke in a hurry. I suspect this is a scam to get your social security number, birth date, etc. I suspect they are phishing for information so they can steal your identity.
I call back during business hours (using *67 to block my number). I hear, "The person you have called is unavailable right now. Please, try again later. <again in spanish>. Message 2 switch 2 1 7 1. <repeat all previous> We're sorry your call can not be completed at this time. Please, hang up and try your call again later. Thank You <repeat "we're sorry" part to end>" Then it hangs up. So they don't seem to be able to be called back.
The phone number is registered to someone whose first name is Chadrick who resides in High Point, NC. My guess is that he is not running the scam, but his number has been spoofed. If that name is unfamiliar, I don't recommend calling back or answering the call.
