Received mesg from 336-714-0482. Mesg, in short has comments about authorites if some process is not started. It's BS, and should be stopped. If the 1-800, or 1-888, consumer thrift agency still exist look into that too report this. I strongly suspect this is a scam. Included that it's connected to companies that sell cosmetics, and or item's online. Offering free, or highly discounted items, then claiming your into a one year deal w/monthly payments. Or it's a new scam. I wish people would actualy call their congressional and senatorial offices demanding an office be put in place to monitor and stop such activities. These scams have became an unexceptable payoff for rip off artist. To close; I wish thousands of calls from us to our state level politicians would occur. The people need to start standing up again like we did in the sixties and seventies. So if you just complain here and keep getting calls, you deserve it. Otherwise get up, make time and call your congressman, or womans office. Tons of letters help too but then trees are in consideration these days,, Thanks for reading.
This company RBA Legal uses "unknown number" which is a violation of The FDCPA. They also dont like to let you know who they are which is also a violation, until you let them know that you know the laws in regards FDCPA.
Its a winston salem, NC number. But they are calling me about something from 2010. A payday loan but they can not tell me who the lender is...it doesn't make any sense. And I dont recall doing this. I am almost certain this is a scam
Simple solution. Now that they talked to you, they must do this as required by law. At which point you can send them a letter telling them to validate the debt. My guess is they won't follow the law because they are criminals trying to scare you into paying extortion money.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
