I got the same letter, he is going by David Haupt in my letter.  I googled the property and saw it was for sale, so made me question why he was renting - was going to call the Realtor today, but has been bothering me so I copy and pasted in the google tool bar Robotic Programmer & Welder/Fitter here in El Paso,TX and  the exact email letter I got came up - makes me feel like a fool, and should have listened to my daughter - Thank goodness I didn't give him any information but my name and phone number.  Haven't heard a word, when I asked if there was any way we could see the inside of the home. I will definately be going through a realtor vs craigslist from this point forward.  Thanks for all your reports!

This is the email I received this week. I hope someone finds this guy. After I spoke with him on the phone I was creeped out especially after he said "trust me. I will take good care of you."

I received this same scam email in response to a request for information on a rental house in Massachusetts. I found it on craigslist like so many others. This forum helped me so I'm posting in order to help others who may be in contact with these people.

We had a thought of selling the house Since we will be staying longer than we thought, so we look for an agent and getting one we strike a deal but later my wife advised me on not selling the house anymore. I reasoned with her and accepted her advice. So we contacted the agent back and requested for our keys and documents. Later we decided to have the house lease out since we will back to the house in the next 4 to 5 years, we would have given the same agent this job also but the truth of the matter is that the agent was asking too much of an agent fee and also advising me to hire the rent fee so i thought this would not make a good person or a good family that will take good care of the house for me should be able to afford the rent fee and this might make them stay away from renting the house. And more some we do not have anyone in the area we can leave the keys behind with, so that is why we posted the advert by our self. If you notice, you will discover that the price we are offering is far below standard price and this is enough for you to know that we are not after the rental fee but the absolute care for the property. We know there is no way we can be sure that you are the right person to live in the house because we won't be able to see physical before sending you the keys and the documents to occupy the space. The house is available for as long as you want and if you drive by the house you may see a sign there, you have nothing to worry about it belongs to my previous agent so you have absolutely nothing to worry about and you don't have to call them because they do not have access to the house anymore.

There's a special place in HELL for these low-life scammers. I've just come across the same thing in San Diego with an ad on Craigslist. Funny how deep down you actually know when something is too good to be true. All I had to do was Google a small portion of this scammer's response to me to see the language repeated over and over in different variations. Here's the email I received from [email protected] (no phone provided) when I asked why a particular property was renting FAR below the going rate:
