Just received a call from this number. Claims to be some type of support for Breast Cancer. I just had my yearly mammo last week so I assumed it was something affiliated that. They are sending me a packet for sponsorship donation. I will definitely do research before sending any type of donation but everything seemed legit on the call.
There is nothing special about your phone number that prevents anyone else from calling it, by accident or intentionally. The only thing that can be special is that your name is not associated with your cell phone number in any marketing data brokers' databases.
A lot of scammers - particularly the fake IRS agents - have set up autodialers to call all possible numbers within an area code and exchange. I got calls from these scammers on my cell phone too. Other scammers call my cell phone too. Still, I get at most an average of a call a week - and I ignore them if they don't leave a voice mail message.
Just received a call from this number on my cell. They hung up leaving no messsage. Called back from my office line and got the 'this phone number is disconnected' message, so it apparently is a spam call using a spoofed number.
