This number called 1/18/2011 at 4pm, a female recorded message claiming to be from our credit card company, did not say the credit card name, saying they could reduce the interest rate. I hit the 0 three times and a male voice came on at which point I told them to remove my phone number and put it on the do not call, the caller simply hung up.
Message was the same thing about a credit card--nothing wrong but an offer was about to run out. I've had this happen before so I pressed "9" for a "representative. Someone calling himself Gary after the usual from me about how he was probably a criminal said he he'd remove my phone # from the list if I'd give it to him and that he had no idea what my number was--that he's at an outgoing call center. (No way would I give my phone #.) He said that the company he was working for was "Account Services, Inc."
The call came through without a name attached, merely "New York" plus the phone number on my caller ID.
I filed a complaint with the do not call site and it could not be registered. According to the site at .gov the caller was not a number registered within the last 31 days. Obviously this scam operation is using phone numbers and then discontinuing them so they never fall into the do not call guidelines.
