Received following unsolicited text message at 9:13AM PDT Apr 3, 2012........"Apple is looking for people to Test & Keep the New iPad 3! But only the 1st 1000 users that goto http://testipad3.co and enter BETA will Receive it!"....of course I didn't respond so don't know if it is harmful or not. Just wish to stop bogus messages.
Apple is looking for people to Test & Keep the New iPad 3! But only the 1st 1000 users that goto http://theipad3.mobi and enter code BETA will Receive it!
Looked up the website (did not click link or respond in any way). It is a scam site being sued for fraud. It is a phishing site for personal info.
WAYS TO SPOT INTERNET FAKES:
1. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
2. If you don't remember soliciting contact (filling out forms or entering contests/sweepstakes), disregard.
3. If the spelling, grammar, punctuation, or capitalization seems odd (as in the above message), it's probably a fraud.
5. If it is supposed to be from a company you know (like PayPal or AT&T), but doesn't seem to fit their normal format, it's probably a fake.
6. If it's asking for personal info but the URL doesn't start with "https://" it is not secure and probably not trustworthy.
7. If there is no link or button to view Privacy Policy on the page or email, don't trust it.
Received text message to receive free iPad 3 - searched it out and found this web page. Thanks for the info. Our cell phones used to be safe - not anymore!
